More of Brett Whiteley’s “Art, Life and the other thing”?

Using Brett Whiteley’s Archibald prize-winning painting, “Art, Life and the other thing” as an example, the baboon shows Whiteley’s drug addiction – in particular Heroin.

Does anybody know off any other artworks that show a person’s battle with drug addiction?

This does not include music or movies etc relating to drugs.

Tintoretto, the official court painter to King Phillip II of Spain in the 16th century is said to have been paranoiac to his addiction of magic mushrooms brought back to Spain from Mexico. It has been said that his particular stylistic technique of elongated figures was a result of this but I disagree. However, I consider that most artists have gone thrugh a stage of addiction to some drugs because they thought it could have increased their perceptive facilities. I don’t agree with that, either, but they certainly did enjoy the euphoria that was to be had.

This does not particularly answer your question but it might give you a line to continue on. Don’t worry about experimenting for yourself, though. You can buy drugs related books that give all the accounts.
