Art May Lead You To A Rewarding And Successfull Career

It’s a dream of many people to have a job in a creative field that is involved in art, but they may not really know what jobs are available.  No one has a dream to spend years in college, only to be in desperate need of a job after graduating.  The secret is to have a plan of how to use your distance learning degree to get a job that will pay the bills and allow you to pursue your creative talents.

If you have a passion for painting, drawing, sculpting, or designing things, an art degree may be the right degree to pursue.  However, you have to be sure that you are taking the types of classes that will help lead you to a job that will help pay the bills.  If you want to become a trade artists or a fine artist who sells paintings or sculptures for tens of thousands of dollars, you may not be thinking realistically about your career.

There is a long history of artists beginning their careers as trade artists or designers for a variety of firms.  Some artists may work as textile designers, designing fabrics, wall covering, or even tile designs.  Other artists work as advertising designers, working with a team to come up with a theme for packaging and product marketing in a variety of campaigns, from print to television ads.

There is no doubt that more and more artists will be using computers to create art for a variety of mediums.  For example, video gaming is a multi-billion dollar worldwide industry that takes in more money that the film industry.  Artists who can create computer-generated graphics will be in demand in this field from now through the foreseeable future. This requires training you’ll get from your art masters degree.

Animation artists are used in the film industry, the gaming industry, and the advertising industry.  Artists who ignore the importance of computer-generated art are ignoring an important possible source of income.  Computer generated art is so important in business because it can easily be re-created and re-purposed; it is much more efficient than thousands of hand-drawn animation cells.

There are a number of artists who decide to become professional illustrators.  Illustrators are used in the publishing industry for a variety of jobs, including medical and other textbooks, as well as children’s storybooks.  Jobs in the publishing industry as professional illustrators are very competitive, and often require some experience or background in publishing.

Artists command an extremely varied salary range, depending on the type of career they decide to pursue.  The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that art directors for ad agencies made median annual salaries of $76,980; however artists who worked as salaried craft artists had median annual salaries of $29,080.  Artists who pursued multimedia careers and animation made median salaries of $56,330; the top 10% of earners in that field made very attractive median salaries of $100,390.

With an art degree, you can get a full-time job, but you will have to be proactive about the direction your degree takes you.  The future of well-paying art jobs depends largely on having a wide array of talents, including traditional forms and computer-generated art forms.  Although competition for these types of jobs is very keen, with perseverance and a set goal, you can use your accredited college degree to good advantage when seeking a job after graduation.
