beginners art supplies? marker types, paint brushes?

my 14 year old daughter is beginning to draw more and i would like to buy some good supplies. She drew me in pencil and she has used markers. are there any specific markers that she should try, any particular pencils or erasers? should i let her develop with pencils and markers or should i introduce paints? she also draws cartoons and still life. please advise.

Get her a 2b pencil and another 4b or higher. The 2b is for drawing and the 4b is for shading. As for markers, a felt tip is always great, there’s loads of different types of pens/markers it’s hard to say which to go for, any with proper ink is great not the ones with the gooey kind of ink(if that makes sense) A smooth pen or marker is good. You could try get a brush tip marker.

As for introducing paints, that I suppose depends on if she wants to try then. If you are start out with acrylic and water colour, on good quality paper rather than canvas. As for paint brushes I think you could ask in the shop, that would probably be best because they should know what they have in stock.

Some other things you could try her on chalk and oil pastels, charcoal(be prepared for a black mess).

It may be a good idea to get her lessons or a book showing her how to use the materials.
