Picking up boxing good for hardgainer who bodybuild? Complete newbie?
I’ve been working out around 2-3 months now (2 times a week mostly 30 min sessions). I am a hardgainer, but I am making progress.
Boxing’s always been a sport that I think is an art.
As a kid, I read an old Japanese boxing comic religiously and watched boxing highlights of the 90′s live on TV (now I’m in my 20s). Forgot about it for a while, but started to remember this passion after seeing some UFC matches.
QUESTION: Is boxing a good match with bodybuilding for a hardgainer like me or should I wait until I achieve my desired weight before pursuing boxing as a hobby? I am trying to gain at least 15-20 more lbs of muscles (I am now around 157 lbs).

as a hobby yes thats fine. competitively no i would not recomend it because people who are swole usually cant box very well. you need to be very lean to box at a high level. just look at all the pros many are very skinny. but since it would just be a hobby you can still be jacked and be fine. if you get into boxing now, you will have a harder time gaining wieght as most of it will be cardio related but you will be a better boxer for being lighter and leaner closer to an ideal fighting wieght for you, which in reality, even though i dont know you, im sure is probably something like 140 or even 135 lbs because i guarantee you have tons of unnecisary weight from eating tons of protien lifting wieghts as bodybuilders do. but either way just have fun with it. if your looking to get competitive, drop the wieghts and protein bars and get into fighting shape, but if your just looking to have fun then go ahead and enjoy it and enjoy being jacked too
