who determines if a car should be classified as a sports car?

I have resently bought a 2007 chevrolet cobalt and the insurance company says this is a sports car. This car does not have power locks or power windows and only has a 2.2 liter engine so it does not have anything sporty about it. You cannot buy a cobalt with anything but a 4 cylender engine. So do the insurance companies say this is a sports car just to squeeze more money out of you.

cobalts come with supercharged engines as well..so the buyers of “plain Jane” cobalts have to pay a premium for the others who buy the more powerful engines…not fair…but a fact
