rover 75. seat retraints?

I have a small piece of plastic from a jacket zip inside the seat belt restrainer where the actual seat belt clips into. The manual shows a piston which activates the air bags. There is also an electric cable which drives the piston should there be a collision. If I disconnect this cable will I be able to take the restrainer off without world war 3 starting? It seems such a small thing to have to go to a dealer for. Thanks in advance for your time. art m

Assuming you can see the bit of plastic, can’t you fish it out with tweezers or a hooked piece of wire?
