Car Bulbs: The Easy Way To Change Your Headlight Bulbs
Car bulbs are a very small component with a very large role in your safety! Imagine driving at night without headlights. Crazy, right? Well that’s what would happen if your headlight bulbs have gone.
Whether you’ve got HID lights or LED car bulbs, if your bulb has gone then it’s time to change them otherwise your safety is at risk and you may be pulled over and fined by the police which is never a welcome occasion.
But how do you change car bulbs? It isn’t some mystical art only known to mechanics! In fact it’s pretty easy and you don’t even need any tools to do it.
Before you start though it’s necessary to check which car bulbs you need! After all, you can’t just guess! The best place to check is your car’s manual which will tell you the model of bulb installed. If you still aren’t sure then remove one of the old bulbs and check it, it may say the model; you could also call into your local motoring store or mechanic and ask them.
• Open the car’s bonnet and locate the back of the headlight. You’ll see three wires coming out of a plug that’s kind of triangular in shape.
• You need to disconnect the wires (wiring harness) and the plug which is actually connected at the bottom of the headlight bulbs. Depending on type you may need to unscrew, unclip, or simply pull off the plug.
• Now you should grab the bottom of the bulb (where the plug was connected to) and gently remove the old bulb by pulling it out. If it is still fixed in place try wiggling or rotating it slightly and it should soon come loose.
• It’s time to put in the new bulb, but before you start it’s important to note that you should never touch car bulbs of any type with your bare fingers. Any dust or oil left on the surface will affect their performance and shorten their life-span, so grab them with a clean cloth or clean gloves and try to avoid touching the glass at all.
• Push the new bulb into the slot where you removed the old bulb from and make sure that it is completely inside and fits flush with the back of the headlight.
• Rewire the bulb with the plug and make sure that any clip holding everything in place is secure.
• Turn on your shiny new headlight bulbs!
