Choices Available With Custom Picture Frames
You may have a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork that will simply not fit into a ready-made picture frame. It was for this situation that custom picture frames are created. You can select the size and materials you want used in your custom metal or custom wood frame, and in this way you can put the finishing touch on your prized artwork.
Custom framing supplies allow you to be selective in the types of materials used in the creation of your custom picture frames. You can choose from metal or wood picture frame mouldings for your custom art framing. A custom wood frame can be stained, painted or gilded to meet your needs for the overall appearance of the finished piece of artwork. In addition to a variety of wood types used with a wide range of colors available, the profile of the frame, or the width and height measurements, can also be optimized to your specifications.
Other custom framing supplies will be needed to round out the look of your artwork. Glazing is an important consideration. For custom art framing, you may select from glass or acrylic glazing. Glass is quite scratch resistant, yet it is heavy and may not be the best choice for a large picture frame. Acrylic is purely clear with no colors built in and is also light weight, and certain types of acrylic are archival quality, meaning that they can help to prevent pollution and ultra violet light damage from making an impact on your artwork surface.
You may also need a mat board custom fit to your artwork. Some of the better mats are made of conservation-quality materials, to help prevent yellowing and discoloration of the surface of the artwork. Museum-quality mount board custom cut to fit your new frame also goes toward protection of your valuable artwork.
The good news is that you can find custom picture frames kits available. These include all of the pieces and parts that you will need to complete you custom framing project in a professional manner. You can find custom frames from fine-art photography framing suppliers online, who can offer more guidance with your custom framing.
