Engage Your Teenage Kid in Writing Contests for Teens
Somewhere along your child’s education, they lose the love they had for learning. This happens because in most schools music programs were slashed and fine arts have been removed or they have been made extracurricular activities. Children need a way to escape into magical times and places where they may never visit in real life. This is why video games have become rampant although there’s not a lot to be learned from a video game. However, one way in which your child can learn and enjoy the experience is through writing contests.
For most children reading is not as exciting as it once used to be. This has given way to computers, video games, internet and other modern marvels which have taken the place of reading a good book. While the internet is a useful tool which some of these kids use to express themselves through blogs, these children can put the creative expressions into creative use which is needed in these writing contests.
Doing this is not difficult and parents need to be concerned and come up with ways in which their children can learn more and make use of their talents at the same time. There are many reputable publishers who have opened up writing contests and illustration competitions to young readers. The writing contests allow children to use their creative talents together with a chance to publish in books and periodicals sold all over the country or even receive royalty contracts or scholarships.
These publishers also ensure that the competitions are kept running all year round. These competitions will definitely energize kids and give them a great learning experience. While most traditional writing contests and illustration competitions have entry fees, the publishers host competitions for kids that don’t have entry fees at all. This is because they want to make the competitions available for all kids.
There are other small publishers and magazine publications or periodical publications that offer writing contests as well as illustration competitions for children too. However, some of them charge a small entry fee but others don’t at all. All of these publishers still offer a child a means of putting their work in print form as well as bringing back the love for literature and the arts. Finding these competitions is not hard and you can simply use your favorite search engine and search for children’s writing contests. However, it is very important to always check the authenticity of the illustration and writing contests before you allow your child to enter into the contest.
The illustration and writing contests offer your child an opportunity to foster their love for fine arts again. By getting them involved in the literary and illustrative process you are definitely making them a part of something bigger. As a parent, you can start by picking a few copies of some interesting books for your kids. This will get them started on a journey into the unknown that reading can bring. This is also another way to keep your children busy during summer months.
