this is my HW all i need to answer is why is louise bourgeois giant spider sculpture called maman?

It is called MAMAN because it is a female spider, and MAMAN is the french word for MOTHER – It has a sac of eggs beneath its body which suggests it is about to have many many little spider babies.

It measures over 30ft high

It relates to the themes of NATURE, MOTHERHOOD/FAMILY, ANIMALS (All of which pretty much speak for themselves TBH)

The eggs are made from Marble, but the structure is from metal – Probably steel
