When Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda die, they disappear, but Anakin and Qui-Gon Jinn’s bodies must be burned. Why?
Because Yoda and Obi Wan learned a special technique before they died, but Anakin and Qui-Gon didn’t. At the end of Revenge of the Sith, Yoda tells Obi Wan that Qui-Gon has found a way to back from the netherworld of the force and he will teach him.
This scene kind of came out of nowhere and doesn’t make much sense. Seems like George Lucas forgot to explain it, and came up with a lame explanation at the last minute. Here’s a quote:
“There’s a hint of how Obi-wan eventually has learned to give up his physical being and becomes one with the Force and you understand here that his old master Qui-Gon has something to do with it – come back from the netherworld of the Force and teach him how to do it.”

Oh well…This is the official explanation for why they are able to return as ghosts and why their bodies disappear.
