This American rock band got its start in 1999 in Nashville , Tennessee and is perhaps one of the only all boy, all brothers bands (we won’t name one of the others) in the country and around the world. Not that the concept of all brothers and all boys is new because it isn’t but Kings of Leon isn’t your everyday white boy band, not by a long shot. Brothers Anthony Followill, Ivan Followill, Michael Followill and cousin Cameron Followill are the members of Kings of Leon. If those names don’t sound familiar, it’s because all of the members use their middle names on stage so you may know them as Caleb, Nathan, Jared and Matthew.
At the start, Kings of Leon was most recognized for their southern rock infused blues musical sound that had an upbeat tone to it. Over time, however Kings of Leon has continued to expand their signature sound to include a host of different genres. The result has been a more alternative sound that’s recognized as alternative rock, southern rock or garage rock revival in various circles of fans of this kind of music.
With a Pentecostal background, for many it didn’t come as a surprise that their first record was entitled Holy Roller Novocaine EP, released in February, 2003. It was the precursor to their debut album Youth and Young Manhood, which received a 4 out of 5 star rating from Rolling Stone magazine. Their second album Aha Shake Heartbreak was released in the U.S. in 2005 and featured hits like The Bucket, King of the Rodeo and Four Kicks. Fame wasn’t a stranger to Kings of Leon as they released their third album Because of the Times. Taper Jean Girl was tapped to be in the movies Disturbia and Cloverfield, adding more appreciation for Kings of Leon and their signature sounds and foot-stomping beats.
Holding four Grammy nominations on the table for Kings of Leon now and their recent release of Live at the O2: London, there’s plenty of buzz going on around this band. If you didn’t get to their concerts recently, there will be more opportunities to enjoy Kings of Leon in the near future. In the meantime, those who were fortunate enough to get tickets to their recent appearances were treated to a musical extravaganza that most will never forget.
Getting a copy of Live at the O2: London that’s recently been released is, for many, the next best thing to seeing Kings of London live and in person. The crystal clear sound and beautiful picture of blu ray. If you don’t have this exciting performance set by Kings of Leon yet, you owe it to yourself to get your hands on one of these DVDs before they’re all sold out. This is a band that brings vocals, music, lyrics and more to the stage in an outstanding manner every time the start to sing. Whether you like to kick back in your seat or enjoy a few steps out of your seat, there’s something for everyone and Kings of Leon moves you to find your groove and get into it.

With more music on the horizon and plans for additional tours after the holidays, there’s never been a better time to get to know Kings of Leon and enjoy the sounds of music this band is putting into the music industry.
