Boston: The Beer Haven of the Atlantic North East
When you think of Boston, chances are good that you think of the Celtics, or maybe cream pies. For those acquainted with the craft beer industry, you might think of Samuel Adams, as well – Boston Brewing Co. is one of the best-known microbreweries in the nation. However, did you know that Boston is a craft beer Mecca? It seems that the land of beans and the Boston Tea Party has become a haven for great beer in the Atlantic North East. However, you’ll find much more than the home of Sam Adams here.
Harpoon Brewing calls the city home, and you’ll find it over on Northern Avenue. They hold 1-hour tastings throughout the week, so if you’re looking for a great way to sample some amazing brews, hit this stop while you’re in town. Tours are also held here on the weekends. If you like unfiltered beer, this is one of the best places in town.
Another excellent stop while in Boston is John Harvard’s Brew House. Here, you’ll find quite a few brews, and a lot of them change every couple of weeks. So, if you’re in town for a while, you might consider hitting this location more than once to see what’s on offer. There are more than 250 different brewing recipes to try here, so most people will find at least one or two they love.
Beer Works is another must-experience location in Boston. You’ll find this brewpub right outside Fenway Park (so you can catch a game AND a great beer). The pub offers 10 or more beers on tap at all times, and you can even order a sampler rack that gives you four different beers at one time.
Of course, no list of Boston beer locations can be complete without paying homage to one of the city’s mainstays – Sam Adams. After all, Boston Beer Company was instrumental in the rise of the craft beer scene across the entire nation. You’ll find it over on Germania Street, and there are tours offered Monday through Saturday, as well. At the end of the tour, you’re given the chance to enjoy some hard to find beers and seasonal offerings, so if you love Sam Adams, this is worth the trip.
As you can see, Boston has a lot to offer the confirmed beer lover – hit a couple of these spots and enjoy your time in Beantown.
