What’s your opinion on best water marble nail polish brands?
I’ve done the popular water marble nail art that you can find on YouTube, before. I found that most of the nail polish brands that I own, don’t work out very well. I’m going out tonight after dinner to buy some nail polish and other supplies I’m in need of to do this. Anyone have any suggestions on brands that they found worked really well? If you can, try to stick to brands you can find in Canada, but any advice helps.

It’s not so much about the brand as the type. Sparkle or glitter nail polishes are a no-go for marbling. Also a no-go is most metallics (though I’ve had luck with Orly Luxe and China Glaze Swing Baby), jellies, and mattes or suedes of any kind. Don’t use a quick dry formula either because you need it to dry slowly so you have time to create a bullseye. Use room temperature water. A lot of people say it should be filtered but I’ve been marbling for years and have never used filtered water. When you’re first starting out you should start with cremes (regular, shimmer free nail polish) which are different colors. If the color is too similar you won’t see a difference. Don’t hold the brush too far above the water when dropping because this will cause it to fall through. Also, don’t touch it to the water or you can contaminate the polish. Hold it JUST above the water surface. Marble in a small lid cup like a dixie cup for best results. And don’t drag your toothpick (or orange stick) outside of the bullseye or you’ll break the marble. I recommend Sally Hansen Xtreme polishes to start out with because they’re high pigment and mostly creme colors! Good luck!
