where do I find info re a painters’ (art) idenity?

I have some paintings that are beautiful to me, however, I know nothing about the artist. Where do I go to get this info?

I can’t tell you how much easier your search will be if you at least have the artists’ names.

You could start with a simple online search with the terms “(artist’s name) painter” or “(artist’s name) painting” and see what turns up. There’s also artnet, which is a subscription site for auction results and such, but you could probably look up names for free, to see if they have any info at all.
