Much like the name assumes, POD Resque involves safely guiding rescue pods-spelled “Resque”-to the end of each level. Similar to certain games like Asteroids, the purpose of this game is to guide your pod ilk through a haze of brightly lit square- and star-shaped asteroids. With each passing level, though, your chain of “Resque” pods grows larger. OpenFeint achievements are included, meaning that you can play over and over again in order to grab every achievement available. POD Resque also boasts leader boards for talented players to show off their high scores. Since this game is tilt-controlled, you can even play it in your Motorola Cliq 2 case!
Droid Odyssey is everything you’d expect from a mobile phone plat former and more. You play as a happy-go-lucky robot that is just like any other robot, except for one thing: he has the ability to control gravity. As you use this awesome power, you’ll be guiding your robot through wonderfully rendered scenes and great worlds full of puzzles. This game is currently in beta, but it’s already climbed to the top of ranks in even the pay games’ leagues. It has an average to low replay value, but expect this to change with the coming alpha release. Bimaru – The Siege, named after an epithet for four northern Indian states, is essentially Battleship for your mobile phone. Reminiscent of the popular board game, it relies heavily on strategy and a heaping dose of luck. The concept is simple enough that it won’t require your full attention, and you can choose level difficulties ranging from baby-mode to total carnage. Sadly, the one big downside to this game is its lack of multiplayer. However, developers have stated that in future releases; it will definitely support two-player for all of your battleship-sinking needs.
4 in a Row’s title says it all. This is an Android OS version of the classic games Connect 4 and Go. With 4 in a Row, you can play against a friend, or even the game’s AI for a more difficult challenge. The game supports both trackball and touch screen use, so playing it from within your Motorola Cliq 2 screen protector will be no problem. Unlike the classic traditional games, this version displays seven different difficulty levels, the ability to shift levels while you play a portrait and landscape mode, and most importantly, an “undo” function. In Doctor Droid, you are a doctor pioneering the art of nanotechnology. With your remote-controlled white blood cell, you find yourself surrounded by amorphous green viruses within your patient’s bloodstream. With the help of pharmaceutical projectiles, it’s your duty to protect your patient from these amoebic menaces! This game, easily the best in its class, has graphics that are cute and minimalistic. You only have a health bar (in the shape of a thermometer), a high score meter, and the “quit” button, leaving the screen looking open and clean. Since you can never run out of viruses, the game has a high replay value, especially to the fact that this game cannot end. It’s an eternal struggle between doctor, patient, and virus that will make those long, boring stretches of free time a bit more bearable. It also has OpenFeint achievements!
