How To Enjoy Simple Living With Style
It would certainly be nice if we could all afford to live in a penthouse suite with a sweeping view of the city or the sea. Maybe some day it will happen, but if you’re a student or working a day job, it won’t happen today. However, if you keep your chin up and use your imagination, you can enjoy a comfortable lifestyle on a budget.
Studio apartments can feel cramped and uncomfortable. The bed seems to take up most of the living space and what’s left of it is taken up by your desk. What can you do about it? If you find a studio with a loft, you can put together a loft bed with desk. Your bed is only for sleeping and your desk is only for working or surfing the net, so really are a waste of space in your living area.
Now you will find that your living area is much larger. You can indulge yourself and get a nice big easy chair for watching TV or reading and even have a couple of armchairs for friends. The next thing you need to do is clean up your kitchen. Rice cookers and other small appliances are great for small kitchens.
Many studio apartments have very small kitchens with limited cooking and storage space. Rice makers are a great way to conserve space because they can be tucked away when not in use. That way, your one or two burner stove can be used for stir frying or steaming. There’s a very compact and efficient Sanyo rice cooker on the market that would be perfect for your studio space.
When it comes time for entertaining, you don’t really need a dining table. You and your friends can just eat at the coffee table. Get a good sized coffee table and you will find it will serve many purposes.
What else can you do? No doubt your room could use a fresh coat of paint. Choose a bright, lively color in a very light tone to add a feeling of greater spaciousness to your room. Then take some time to choose posters or paintings that have a lot of depth to them, such as landscapes. In case you were wondering, that’s why so many motel rooms have landscapes hanging over the bed. They make the room seem bigger.
These are just a few ideas you can use to live stylishly on a budget. Don’t let your circumstances get you down. With a positive attitude and a little creativity, you can make even a studio apartment feel like a penthouse!
