Who Are Your Favirote Guitar Players?
Great guitarists don’t come around every year, there are a select few that have and continue to leave their mark on the musical landscape.
I have my personal favorites and in this article I want to share with you three of them. The three guitar players I’m going to talk about here aren’t bound by style or sound and there not players you’re going to suddenly start to copying even with the best online lessons.
What these artists can do is inspire you to learn their songs and learn their tricks in hopes that you can meld some of what you learn into your very own style on the guitar.
Jimmy Page
Jimmy Page is best known as the amazing guitarist for the four piece blues rock band Led Zepplin. Some of their amazing hits including “Whole Lotta Love”, “Stairway to Heaven” and others illustrate Jimmy’s amazing work on the guitar. If on some off chance you haven’t heard of Jimmy Page before well it’s time to come out from under that rock and start learning your guitar great’s history.
Zepplin’s music and Jimmy’s style of guitar playing has insired many to take blues guitar lessons in hope of learning some of the secrets to unlocking Page’s unique playing and solo styles.
Prior to being the guitarist for Zepplin Page was placed guitar for the Yardbirds along with another amazing guitarist Jeff Beck.
Eric Clapton
Born Eric Patrick Clapton, this man has a special gift to make his signature Fender Stratocaster sing on stage. While Clapton has been solo for the past couple of decades he has been a member of some great bands including Cream, Derek and the Dominos and as the a guitarist in the Yardbirds.
Clapton’s career has spanned more then 50 years and he still continues to perform. Check out some of the amazing work he did with Cream such as “Whiteroom”, with Derek and the Dominos such as “Layla” and of course his solo material such as “Tears in Heaven”.
Jimi Hendrix
Always leave the best for last I’ve been told, and not many can hold a flame to the guitar god that was Jimi Hendrix. While his life was cut short he accomplished much in his short 7 year career. Whether it’s the amazing show he put on at Woodstock in the sixties or any of his numerous hits that have been covered dozens of times Hendrix truly re-created playing electric guitar for all of us. To get an idea of his playing style look up some of his amazing hits such as: “Little Wing”, “Foxy Lady”, “Purple Haze” and “Hey Joe”.
Learning a Hendrix song or two is an experience all in its own and gives a guitarist great respect for just how talented he really was.
