How do I get from Burlingame to San Jose airport using public transportation?
I’m from Michigan, moving to California in 3 weeks. I’m trying to find out if it’s a good idea to take a job at San Jose, if you live in Burlingame without a car. Please be as specific as possible. I am willing to bike to the public transportation.
Ride your bike to the Caltrain station in Burlingame and get on the train- it goes right into San Jose, and you can take the light rail from the Caltrain Station to wherever your office is. If you do this every day, you should invest in a monthly rail pass, and get it endorsed with a bike stamp so you can carry your bike on the trains ( both Caltrain and the light rail trains are equipped to carry bikes) and ride them in bad weather. I used to live in San Jose, so I know this is possible to do. It’s a fairly lengthy commute, however, unless you make a habit of taking the express trains which have limited stops. Caltrain also offers weekend rail service between San Francisco and Gilroy, a town about 30 minutes south of San Jose ( it’s right on 101) and you can get light rail service down there as well.
