Enjoying the Rich Historical Legacy of Spain’s Architecture
Like other countries worldwide, the changes in Spain’s architectural trends say a lot about what took place to them through the centuries. Spain is one of those countries that genuinely put much store in protecting their cultural tradition through preserving architectural structures. A lot of Spain’s greatedt architectural pieces can be located all over the country, so if it’s your first time there as a tourist, it’s paramount to speed yourself and play your vacation well so that you can visit as many historic structures as you can.

In so far as architectural history is concerned, some of the oldest structures can be visited at the Balearic Islands; you’ll be astonished at how well these Bronze Age structures were preserved and are taken care of by the government. According to carbon dating, these structures were built during the Bronze Age; derived from the condition of the funeral chambers; you can see how the government is very involved in enthusiastically preserving such national treasures. There are also other prehistoric structures like the walled villages of Avila where structures like circular houses with thatched roofs have also been preserved.
For example, during the time when Rome was conquering nations left and right and was hell bent on taking over the world, certainly the architectural trends in Spain was greatly affected. In terms of burial grounds, Spain became more traditional in the sense that burial grounds, catacombs, and the likes were erected. One definite Roman-inspired architectural structure that still survives to this day is the Aqueduct of Segovia; once more, it is relatively well-maintained, gratitude to the attempt of the government and other sectors.
As Spain changes into a more Gothic style of architecture, some structures became an exclusive mixture of Gothic and Romanesque styles. This cathedral is said to be the very first structure made in the manner of Gothic architecture. The Cathedral of Avila was the foremost of many Gothic buildings made in Spain.
Looking at the changes in the architectural trends of Spain over the centuries can tell you what had shaped the country into whatever it is presently. In fact, to be able to see them all, you’ll need to spend several months in the country.
