Whats Studio Arts Photogrpahy? career in photogrpahy?
Im 15 yrs old and we have to chose subjects
they have studio arts photogrpahy im just wondering what it is?
i love taking photos of the environment and things in my house
wondering if i should chose this subject to get an idea of photogrpahy
however some say a bit of chemistry is involved in photogrpahy when developing photos and stuff. I dont find any interest in this if i have to do it if i do find a career in photogrpahy
will i have to do this?
whats studio arts photogrpahy?
and would i have to develop photos with chemicals or something (even in courses at uni)!?

I believe that if it’s something you love, you should definitely explore it. It would make half the work fun.
If it’s black and white photo chances are you will learn how to develop your negatives and prints using some chemicals. This process can be a little annoying, but it’s not hard, and it is worth it when that final print comes to life before your eyes.
If you’re course is about color photo then you won’t likely see any chemicals, rather you get your negatives developed by a professional and prints developed by a machine. Apparently you could use the same process for black and white, but color is more sensitive to develop and the chemicals are hazardous to your health.
If you are looking for a career in photo, I’ve seen that many times the good path involves and apprenticeship for a professional photographer, which mostly concentrates on developing.
So all in all, it does take patience, but if you love it, do it. Even if it’s something you don’t end up liking, then at least you’ve taken that route and don’t have to ask any “what ifs” down the line.
