The 1952 film was pretty good, but in someplaces, unintentially funny. Like with the Hungarian born Gabor playing the part of a French Dancer, the accent was hilarious. And then, in the scenes when the character sings, not only does the accent change, but the voice is completely different.
The newer film, Moulin Rouge is fun and often more intentially funny. Plus, it is an unabashed musical and throws out ALL semblance of historical accuracy.
Look, you can get all the historical facts about Lautrec by doing a simple websearch. Just type in the name in the little box the Yahoo Answers provides. You can’t trust ANY facts that might come up in a motion picture.
Yes, he was short.
Yes, he was an artist.
Yes, he produced many posters advertising the famous nightclub.
