What are the benefits of a Mac for a visual arts?
I am a student of Visual Arts who will be using programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc and was wondering what are the pros of getting a Macbook Pro over any other laptop. It is the recommended laptop for visual arts majors and considered the standard. I was wondering why this is. I actually would much rather not get a Mac, considering I don’t like the OS too much, and dual-booting windows is a bit pointless; but I’m willing to adjust if there are any reasons why I should.
As a pc person, I wish I could explain this to you in better detail. But my best friend of over 15 years is an industrial artist and you would have to pry her Mac from her cold dead hands. I do not know the full details, but I can tell you with certainty, if you are an artist you need a Mac. If my artist friend suddenly had to work with a a different computer it would CRIPPLE her! Yes, Apple is bold with their prices, but any other system will hobble your creativity. Again, I am sorry I can’t offer technical details, but I am still answering this question because I am confidant, after watching my friend grow as an artist with her Mac, there is no substitute. My Dell is a Ford Taurus to the Porsche that is her Mac. It’s the choice of artists.
