In A Dorothy Wizard Of Oz Costume You Too Can Follow The Yellow Brick Road

For over 70 years the Wizard of Oz film has been captivating young and old alike and will probably continue doing so for many more generations. Most of us can identify with Dorothy’s heartfelt rendition of Over the Rainbow where dreams really do come true. When life is like a hopeless jumble, there’s always light at the end of the rainbow. You can’t think of Judy Garland without remembering this song even though many other artistes have sung it also.

If you like the idea of following the Yellow Brick Road, why not dress up in a Wizard of Oz costume at your next fancy dress party? There are so many wonderful characters to choose from. Dorothy Gale is the main character and she is twelve years old. She’s an orphan and lives with her aunt and uncle. They live on a farm in Kansas. She wears her hair dark brown hair in pig tails tied with blue bows, and her outfit throughout the movie stays the same. She has a blue and white checked gingham dress and blue short socks. Actually, there is one change to her costume: she is given a pair of magical ruby slippers by the Good Witch of the North. These will protect her against the Wicked Witch of the West. There are so many other great characters in the Wizard of Oz film that would be fantastic as fancy dress outfits. There are Dorothy’s companions on her journey down the Yellow Brick Road, the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Scarecrow.
